This past April, Lionsgate announced the acquisition of film rights to Tyler Perry’s current stage play, “Madea’s Big Happy Family.” Well reports as to who will star in the film have hit the net. We caught up with filmmaker Tiona McClodden, the writer and director of the highly-acclaimed full length documentary, “black./womyn.: conversations with lesbians of African descent.” This poignant film has made the film festival rounds both nationally and internationally, receiving several awards, and was recently released on DVD. After watching this film for the first time, I felt it was a must-see for all self-identifying lesbian/queer women of African descent whether in the closet, out for a week, a year or ten years. In fact, lesbians of all ethnic backgrounds could benefit from seeing this film. The stories shared by this diverse group of lesbian women were both affirming and reinforcing. In our interview, Tiona shared her inspiration for the film, her own personal coming out story, details about her latest project “Baby Makes Me,” featuring Staceyann Chin, and her hopes and desires for the black lesbian community going forward. Find Me Truth, the sequel to the well-received gay indie film Finding Me, is due out Summer 2010. In anticipation of the film’s release, OmeProductions continues to whet fans appetite with the recent unveiling of new cast photos and a preview of the first single off the movie soundtrack, “I Hate You.”
“I Hate You,” performed by singer-songwriter K’Bana Blaq, is lead single off the film’s soundtrack and is currently available for purchase.

In a recent post-jail interview, the self-proclaimed King of the South, rapper T.I., spoke with CNN’s T.J. Holmes about his latest projects and discusses whether he could see himself as a rapper at age 40.
“I’m not going to be the 40-year-old rapper. I would not,” T.I. said. “That’s Jay. He’s doing it very well. Hats off, but I don’t see me doing it. I just don’t see that for me. “
