Hey BGG readers! Back with another edition of Soul Wants To Know. Now this week it was time to switch it up a bit and not do my usual thing. So with this edition, I’d really appreciate your feedback. I don’t know about you all, but I love either-or debates (e.g., Lil’ Kim vs Foxy Brown). So this week let’s see who rises to the top and who’s better between the two subjects.
Let the debates begin… Read the rest of this entry »

So as we know, Chris Brown “stole the show” at the 2010 BET Awards with his convincing and electrifying tribute to his idol, the late Michael Jackson. Of all the MJ tributes over the course of the year, Chris Brown was the one we all were waiting to see. And he delivered. As Chris reenacted some of our all-time favorite MJ music videos like “The Way You Make Me Feel” and “Remember The Time,” it wasn’t until Chris Brown attempted to sing the classic “Man In The Mirror” when the tears began to fall. The entire audience fell silent and so did every living room around the world. Everyone’s mouths dropped and began to fight back tears of their own. At that very moment, Chris Brown was back! Or is he? Read the rest of this entry »

June 28th, 2010Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Celebrities, Culture, Diddy, Entertainment, Janelle Monae, John Legend, Kanye West, Music, Queen Latifah, Taraji P. Henson, Videos
Last night, the place to be was at the 2010 BET Awards, whether you were there live or at home watching. None other than Kanye West opened the award show with a mediocre performance of his latest hit single, “Power.” The multi-talented host, Queen Latifah then followed with a playful and comedic medley. The “Queen” also spit for those who forgot how it all began.
During the 106 & Park: Live From The Red Carpet pre-show Keri Hilson hinted, “I heard it’s a night of comebacks.” and indeed it was. In tribute to the legendary honoree Prince, the also legendary Patti Labelle bellowed out a powerful rendition of Prince’s classic hit “Purple Rain.” It was also a pleasant surprise to see 80’s superstar R&B singer, El DeBarge still looking good and sounding great. The lineup also featured a few surprise duets, namely: Alicia Keys & Kim Burrell, B.O.B. & Keyshia Cole, Monica & Deniece Williams (“Silly Of Me”). But the best performance goes to Chris Brown for his exhilarating tribute to the late, Michael Jackson. Chris Brown poured his heart out while dancing (looking like MJ) and literally singing to tears. It was a performance to remember. “He [Chris Brown] left his heart on the stage, he gave genuine emotion,” said Trey Songz when asked to describe Chris Brown’s performance during a BET post-show interview with BET correspondent Big Tigger.
Now let’s get to the winners, the performances, and of course, the commentary… Read the rest of this entry »

June 9th, 2010Celebrities, Entertainment, Fashion, Music, Rihanna
The Queen of the Fashion Game, Rihanna, simply shut down the latest cover (July 2010) of ELLE magazine. Who else better to cover their Women In Music issue besides Ms. Rated R herself? Rihanna definitely sizzles on the cover and it’s straight FACE she’s giving that makes it a hit for me. Besides the fact the styling is AMAZING, but would we expect anything less from Riri? That said, the cover is causing quite a bit of controversy Read the rest of this entry »

Hey BGG, Soul here with my latest installment of Soul Wants To Know. We talk, we dish, we discuss. I hate it, I love it. They inspire me, they make me cringe. Just some good ol’ fashion gossip you know. There’s nothing like it. You know how on a good summer day you sit on the porch and talk to a good friend about EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY.
Here’s to the summer and good talk. Grab a drink and come on…. Read the rest of this entry »

R&B singer Chris Brown has made multiple public apologies and has attempted to clean up his image via many televised interviews. However, CBrezzy’s music has largely went ignored due to little radio airplay. His latest studio effort, Grafitti, has not delivered commercially, selling shy of 300,000 copies domestically. The struggling singer took to his SayNow account to plead for his fans to request his songs. Read the rest of this entry »

December 23rd, 2009Alicia Keys, Art, Celebrities, Ciara, Entertainment, Fashion, Mariah Carey, Music, Rihanna, Solange, Soul Wants To Know
Hey BGGers! This is Soul, and I’m back with my weekly series, Soul Wants To Know. These are the things that have tickled my fancy, interested me, and maybe you as well.
Check it out!
1. How come NO ONE seems to be excited about Mary J Blige’s new album, Stronger With Each Tear? She hasn’t been giving to us. A shame seeing how she’s the Queen as they say.
2. Is Day 26 serious with all this drama?! Did group drama do anything for 3LW? Destiny’s Child were the exception, NOT THE RULE. And How You Doin’ Willie and Que?
3. Aren’t you all extremely impressed with Alicia Keys new album, The Element of Freedom? Seems as if the drama surrounding her love life made for some GREAT music! Take that Moshanda (no shade).
4. How random is the Shane Sparks molestation allegations? But are any of you surprised?
5. R.I.P. Brittany Murphy. Didn’t we all just love here in Clueless? (Rollin With the Homies)
6. Am I the only one who thinks it’s funny how everyone comes down on Rihanna for her live performances, and vocals, but no one seems to say anything about Keri Hilson? At least RiRi gives FASHION, VISUALS. What is Miss Keri giving besides sub-par choreography and___ vocals?
7. Speaking of Keri, how did she get a Read the rest of this entry »
