Steal my heart! The day I’ve been waiting for (at least one of them) is finally here. Lauryn Hill has returned to the stage. Recently, she performed at the Harmony Festival 2010 in Santa Rosa, California.
With all the reports she’s set to perform at Rock The Bells 2010, I was leery to buy into it because to be frank, it’s not the first time Lauryn’s been “confirmed” to perform or make a comeback and well, you know the rest.
At the Harmony Festival she performed Read the rest of this entry »

Jay-Z surprised the crowd at the 2010 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (Indio, California) when he brought out wife Beyoncé onto the stage. The Jigga man served as the opening act Friday night (April 16th) and performed over 30 songs during his 2 hour set. The Queen Bey helped close out the set when she sashayed on stage to step in for Mr. Hudson’s part on the BP3 track “Young Forever.”
When are they going to do an album together already??? That would certainly be the best of both worlds.

Vallejo, California mayor Osby Davis is on the hot seat for anti-gay comments published in the New York Times article titled, Faith and Tolerance Collide in Vallejo. In the article, Davis comments “They’re committing sin and that sin will keep them out of heaven.” Davis further referred to Vallejo as a “city of God.”
Davis has since apologized for his statement and claims it was taken out of context. He now states he will not discuss his faith with anybody anymore. Davis’ apology may not be enough for many members of the LGBT community in Vallejo. One gay resident, Charles Legalos, stated, “I would like to hear him explain in what context those comments would be appropriate coming from a public official.”
Openly gay bishop Father Lou Bordisso is organizing a protest against Davis for violating the separation of church and state. Bordisso has called for a peaceful protest rally to be held on Tuesday, December 1st at 6:15 p.m. on the steps of Vallejo City Hall.

Well duh!
A new study out of the University of Florida produced results that contradict previously and erroneously held beliefs that newly registered African-Americans who voted for Barack Obama were the ones to blame for voting to constitutionally ban same-sex marriage. The new study found “education is about five (5) times more important than race” when determining whether voters in Florida supported the ban on gay marriage in 2008.
Dan Smith, the coauthor of the Florida study, also agreed with a study done by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute (NGLTF) which uncovered the National Exit Poll, which was the source of the erroneous “proof” African-Americans voted in large numbers in support of such marriage bans, consistently overrepresented Read the rest of this entry »

Actor Isaiah Washington is the latest celebrity to join celebrity photographer Adam Bouska’s NoH8 Campaign, a photo project & silent protest against the passage of Prop 8. Washington’s participation may come as a shock to many following the very public debacle back in 2007 stemming from his usage of anti-gay slurs on the set of Grey’s Anatomy, ultimately leading to his dismissal from the cast.

Listen up bois and girls. There’s a new way to discover the impact of HIV/AIDS on your city and cities throughout the U.S. The National Minority Forum has created an interactive map providing the prevalence of HIV and AIDS rates throughout the U.S., broken down by county. The map is color-coded from green, not as prevalent, to red, very prevalent. While states like New York and California carry a large number of HIV cases, it was the regions from Washington D.C. down to Florida that showed a high density of red indicating a high proportion of people infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
As found in prior studies of this kind, this group has found HIV infection rates are higher in Read the rest of this entry »
