American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino’s new reality show, “Fantasia For Real” is here. In this documentary-style series, Fantasia shows viewers the contrast of her fairytale professional life with the turmoil and stress in her personal life. The singer reveals how the demands of her personal life, including taking care of 6 of her family members, almost lead to her losing everything. From the missed Broadway shows to the weight gain, Tasia discusses it all.

Fantasia For Real premieres tomorrow, January 11th at 10pm on VH1.

R&B singer Deborah Cox is set to hit Broadway in the new musical which chronicles the life of 1930s African American entertainer and activist, Josephine Baker. Cox has been cast in the title role as “Josephine”
This will be Cox’s first return to Broadway since her 2004 run in “Aida.”
The theater, dates and additional casting has yet to be announced.

In a recent interview with CNN, Fantasia explains her sudden departure from her role as Miss Celie in the Broadway musical, The Color Purple. Fantasia began her run in 2007 and wrapped in 2008 after missing about 50 performances. She reveals the reason for her sudden departure was due to two tumors discovered in her throat and underwent surgery to remove them. Now healed, for the most part, she has reprised her role as Miss Celie in The Color Purple

Chandra Wilson, known to most of you as Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy, has taken on a new role in the Broadway hit, Chicago. In a role previously held by Queen Latifah in the film version, Chandra plays prison warden Mama Morton. Chandra told the Advocate she plans to bring her own look, walk and demeanor to the role and has no qualms about playing an impliedly gay character.

Drama Queenz is a new Black Gay Comedy Web-Series that will excite you and have you laughing out loud.
Drama Queenz sets out to follow three friends in New York trying to make it big on Broadway. But in reality, this cast of stars made up of Dane Joseph, Kristen-Alexzander Griffith, and Troy Valjean Rucker are all too familiar with Broadway. If these guys look familiar to you, that’s because you may have seen them in Broadway productions like Aida, Rent and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Queer Black Cinema will host a series premiere for the comedy and Q &A discussion with cast and crew on the topic: The State of Black Gay Roles in Theater. The event will be held oon April 23rd from 7pm-9pm.
