Comedian/actress Mo’Nique took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Precious at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards in Hollywood on Friday night (January 15). She was aglow dressed in a flattering black number with makeup by Sam Fine.
After the award show, Mo’Nique took time to answer press questions. When asked by one reporter if she was concerned the backlash from the black community against the film would hurt its Oscar chances, Mo’Nique shot back “there was backlash in the black community? I knew nothing about that brother. Did you see the numbers at the box office the first weekend? That had a lot to do with the black community?” Mo’Nique further stated, “I think the black community was really satisfied. I think the white community, the Asian community, I think the world as a whole was satisfied with this movie. Now, if you speak about a handful of people, you can never please everybody, can you? So, I think this movie as a whole, people were really satisfied.”
Somebody is always trying to rain on a sista’s parade and throw the black community under the bus in the process. smh.
