RuPaul may soon be unofficially dubbed “Dr. Phil for Drag Queens.” What are we talking about? Obviously, you didn’t see last night’s reunion show for RuPaul’s Drag Race.
We got a two-for-one last night when Logo aired the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race, followed by the reunion show.
They got it right in the finale when Bebe Zahara Benet was crowned the winner of the competition. Her talent, ability, and professionalism remained consistent throughout the show making her the obvious choice. And I’m proud to say BGG was rooting for her all the way. Now if I only had the same luck with the lotto. ..::shrug::. Eh!
And before we had a chance to revel in Bebe’s win, the cast reunion show was dumped in our laps.
So soon? That’s what I said too.
The reunion show, however, was hilarious – from RuPaul joking on Akashia for the stain on her dress to Shannel ripping into Santino to RuPaul’s dramatic speech at the end encouraging the girls to always believe in themselves despite anyone else’s opinion.
Loved it all!!
But all jokes aside, whether you were glued to your screens every Monday night or thought this show fell short in the entertainment department, it did accomplish one thing. It introduced the world of drag into the households of those having varying degrees of exposure to the drag world. While rooting for a winner, viewers’ thoughts and perception of drag queens was being altered and renewed. We were educated as well as entertained. We saw a side of drag queens never before presented to us. And for that, I say kudos to you Ru!

Now episode three was a hot mess all around. The remaining seven contestants had the task of impersonating Oprah Winfrey. Smh. And it did not go well at all.
Once again Shannel’s inflated ego made an appearance. She went on and on about how she loves Oprah more than anyone in the room and how it was a sure bet she was going to win the competition. Baaaaamp. Wrong answer. Once again, she was not that great and in fact sucked during the challenge. The judges said she didn’t even come close to what they had expected from her and she was placed in the bottom two. Hmph! If she could only convince everyone else she’s as great as SHE thinks she is.
But you want to know who killed it? Bebe. She was fabulous. And because of her performance, she’s my new fave.
Eliminated – Akashia – I can’t say I didn’t see it coming.
My fave – Bebe Zahara Benet.

Is it me or does RuPaul look much better as a woman? Seriously!! He looks like a turtle as a man.
Anywho, this week’s competition requires the remaining eight to split up and form two separate girl music groups. Special guest judge was Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child.
Akashia was the leader of one group and Ongina the other.
Akashia’s bitch attitude is going to do her in. It’s just too much and it’s working against her. But I have to give it to her, she gave it to them when lip-syncing Michelle Williams, “We Break The Dawn”
Now onto Shannel. I’m sensing an inflated ego here. “I’m amazed with myself,” “In my head I’ve already won.” You’re not as good as you thing you are. I mean she’s her biggest fan without a doubt. This arrogance may be her downfall. Bring it down a notch.
Ongina killed it with her choreography. She is so damn cute.Tammie is still creeping her housemates out. It didn’t help matters when she revealed that she’s on planet 9 and everyone else is on planet 3. She’s somewhere else alright and I don’t want to go there.
Eliminated – Tammie Baker – once again I’m very pleased with the choice. A hot mess!
My fave – Ongina

O-M-G! America’s favorite drag queen has made a comeback with a show of her own. Yes! I’m talking about RuPaul, honey. Three snaps in the air. It’s RuPaul’s Drag Race on MTV’s Logo, Monday nights at 10p.m.
Looking fierce as ever, in a Tyra Banks-esque format, RuPaul takes nine contestants vying to be crowned America’s next drag superstar. The winner will receive a feature photo spread in Paper magazine, a portrait taken by renowned photographer Greg Gorman for the L.A. Eyeworks Legendary Designer Eyewear campaign, a headline spot on the Absolut Pride Tour across the U.S.A. and a cash prize of $20,000 courtesy of Absolut Vodka and MAC Cosmetics.
Sidebar: I don’t know if Tyra has been impersonating RuPaul or whether RuPaul is impersonating Tyra, cuz HONEY, RuPaul does Tyra better than Tyra.
Ok, I’m back.
Now if you caught the first episode, you had to have caught that nightmare of a character Tammie Brown. Omg, wtf? It’s like Joan Crawford was dug up from the grave and shellacked.
Victoria Parker. Now she looks a hot holy mess. Seriously, I can’t watch this show with her on it.
Shannel. Now you know you were wrong showing up with her ass hanging out. I would have to agree with Akashia, a little too jiggly. Hope she doesn’t keep this up for the whole show.
Nina Flowers. Androgynous? Yes. Scary looking? Oh hell yeah. We’ll have to see about her.
Rebecca Glasscock. Where do they make you honey? She’s hot. She’s definitely stiff competition in the looks and style department.
Ongina. *giggle* cuz it sounds like vagina. She’s so adorable, but I don’t know about her being a strong competitor. Btw, what’s with her channeling Adebisi from Oz.
Akashia. One word: Trouble. I can just tell she’ll keep us laughing all season. She is going to BRING the drama.
Jade. Don’t know what to make of her so far. Not much presence. She seems a bit shy and insecure.
Bebe Zahara Benet. Now Bebe is fierce, an ultimate lady with international flare.
Eliminated – Victoria Parker - I’m so glad cuz I really couldn’t look at her face any longer.
My fave – Rebecca – for now.
Can’t wait for next week. They better Work!!
