The figures are in from last week’s charitable event, “Idol Gives Back,” in which celebrity performers graced the stage of American Idol in an effort to raise funds for several different charities. According to AI, this year’s fundraising event raised more than $45 million for beneficiaries, which include: Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save The Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation.
Queen Latifah emceed the event. Performers and appearances also included Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas, Elton John, Common, Wanda Sykes and Joss Stone, just to name a few.

John Legend performed with The Roots this past Sunday (April 25) as part of The Climate Rally, the biggest event held to commemorate Earth Day. The Rally was held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Pioneering female rap duo Salt-N-Pepa have been confirmed to perform at the 2010 Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs. You know, the HUGE ladies loving ladies bash held out in Palm Springs every year. The ladies, however, are performing sans DJ Spinderella. What! No Spinderella. She always holds the parties down.
Anywho, Pep Pep is surely keeping busy these days. She also has that reality show on VH1 called “Let’s Talk About Pep,” and don’t judge us, but we kinda like it.

Actress Lisa Raye has signed on with TV One for her own reality show. Cameras will follow Raye as she attempts to revive her acting career while juggling a tumultuous personal life. Shot in both Los Angeles and on the island of Turks & Caicos, where Raye was First Lady while married to former Premier Michael Misick, the show will focus on her acting career, guiding her 19 year-old daughter Kai into adulthood, keeping her incarcerated sister, Da Brat, in line, taking care of her ailing mother and managing a love life. All of this packed into eight half-hour shows. Whew!
The show is set to premiere spring 2010.
