“Now, I like to talk about stuff that people don’t normally talk about,” Kaoz warns listeners during the intro of his song “AntiOut”. A rapper and lyricist, Kevin “Kaoz” Moore is unwilling to be defined by his sexuality, using his music and spoken word to vocalize the issues and stereotypes of the African-American gay male. With his latest effort, “The Tyler Durden EP,” Kaoz explores everyday issues while placing emphasis on his own personal obstacles, but speaks on topics that all people can relate too – relationships, sex, lies, drugs and clubs. I was able to catch up with Kaoz briefly to discuss “The Tyler Durden EP” and here’s what he had to say….. Read the rest of this entry »

We caught up with filmmaker Tiona McClodden, the writer and director of the highly-acclaimed full length documentary, “black./womyn.: conversations with lesbians of African descent.” This poignant film has made the film festival rounds both nationally and internationally, receiving several awards, and was recently released on DVD. After watching this film for the first time, I felt it was a must-see for all self-identifying lesbian/queer women of African descent whether in the closet, out for a week, a year or ten years. In fact, lesbians of all ethnic backgrounds could benefit from seeing this film. The stories shared by this diverse group of lesbian women were both affirming and reinforcing. In our interview, Tiona shared her inspiration for the film, her own personal coming out story, details about her latest project “Baby Makes Me,” featuring Staceyann Chin, and her hopes and desires for the black lesbian community going forward. Seeing as how it’s Friday and we are steadily thanking the Lord with the TGIFs, we might as well also thank him for the beautiful SI swimsuit model Damaris Lewis.
Damaris looks all kind of goodness gracious, with a healthy dose of hallelujah.

ABC & Diane Sawyer did not disappoint Friday night (November 6) during the 20/20 special interview of Rihanna. No honey, this certainly was not a replay of Chris Brown’s Larry King Live Interview. She also gave viewers and fans a glimpse into the mind and heart of a person in an abusive relationship and the series of emotions and decisions made before getting out.
