[Video] Boycotters Take Over Target With Musical Protest

A bunch of protesters out in West Seattle took over a nearby Target, equipped with a band and choreographed dance routines, to bring attention to the controversy surrounding Target’s $150,000 donation to an anti-gay, anti-worker gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota.
Here’s a little background. In January 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled corporations could spend unlimited money in our elections. In July, Target made the controversial donation. As recently as last week, a quarter million people pledged to boycott Target. Ok, caught up.
Now check out the video after the jump…
The protesters are part of the Backbone Campaign, a grassroots effort to encourage citizens and elected officials to stand up for progressive values, and its Localize this! Artful Auction Camp. The flash mob style protest was actually part of the participants’ final project.
Gotta love progress!

I am so happy to see that the news of Target’s actions have migrated outside of HuffPost and Moveon.org’s newsletters.
Most Americans are not aware of the devastation “the John Robert’s marywilson-like Supreme Court’s” decision to give corporations the same voice as people. The wealthy organizations now have free reign to pour beaucoup bucks into all of our political campaigns.
La Target was deemed “all that” by the gay community. For them to spit in our faces like this, is beyond insulting. I guess they think that all of us are so wrapped up in Prop 8 conversations that they could sneak this one by us. Think again Target…..this ain’t our first time at the rodeo. Don’t F*ck with us Target! Don’t F*ck with us Best Buy!
This is a great inconvenience since I buy all my toiletries and cleaning supplies at Target. And for us on limited incomes, Target’s prices were great!
So No Walmart, No Target, No Best Buy!!! ‘Til they act right!

I am definitely not supporting target anymore. I think its great that people are actually standing up for what they believe in.
