Eminem debuted the video to his single “Love The Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna on the hook. Despite the seemingly unlikely fit, the two are a perfect pair to deliver such powerful lyrics.

“It’s something that, you know, we [Eminem and I] both experienced on different sides, different ends of the table,” Rihanna explained to Access Hollywood. “It just was authentic… and it’s also something that needed to be done. And the way he did it was so clever. He pretty much just broke down the cycle of domestic violence and it’s something that a lot of people don’t have a lot of insight on, so this song is really a powerful song.

Rihanna further spoke on whether there was any apprehension due to the lyrics: “Not at all. Eminem is an artist of class and I knew if he sent me a record there must be something to it. It couldn’t just be ‘oh duh, she was in that relationship so we have to get her.’ It was really a deep song and the lyrics were so deep, so beautiful and intense and it’s something that I understood, something that I connected with.”

Actors Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan star in the video as the destructive couple.
