Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj graces yet another cover, this time it’s Black Men magazine and what’s more interesting than the cover is what she had to say in the interview. The rap newcomer, who’s built up a fan base on her seemingly “this is me” kind of bravado and candidness about her bisexuality, is now retracting her claims of bisexuality.

Minaj tells Black Men:

“I don’t date women and I don’t have sex with women. That’s, of course, until Cassie comes available.”

Come again. So is Nicki basically saying her entire image is fake. Now I know what you all are saying… DUH! I can hear you through the computer screen. But I’m still stunned and put off to say the least. If anything, this only adds to the criticisms she’s phony, a Lil Kim image jacker, with no sense of identity.

Personally, I feel like Nicki Minaj is falling back from the claims of bisexuality because while in the beginning, an openly bisexual rapper was a novelty in mainstream black music, the novelty as it pertains to Nicki has worn off and she is succumbing to all the criticism she’s received over the past several months, not necessarily related to her sexuality. I’ve sensed her desire for an image overhaul for months now, and believe toning down her sexuality is now part of it.

OR, this is just Nicki merely mindf*cking the interviewer and readers alike? Because like she said, “I don’t have sex with women…until Cassie comes available.” And we’ve all seen the photos of those two booed up. Click HERE in case you missed it.

And like I said in my post last week, I do believe Nicki is plotting on Cassie like she said in her music and wouldn’t be surprise if they’re already bumping boxes.

Either way, I could imagine how hard it is for a female rapper in this industry, and then to add being anything other than heterosexual doesn’t make it easier. However, Nicki will be respected in this industry and have more longevity if she stands by who she is, whoever that may be. Bisexuals already get a bad rap in the LGBT community because they’re seen as flip-floppers with no true allegiance. So coming out and denouncing one’s queerness once criticism gets stiff, only fuels that belief and image. Sexuality is not a game and shouldn’t be treated as one for the purpose of gaining a fan base or dollars.

Rappers like Kin4Life, Fiona Simone, Mélange Lavonne and Infinite stand in their truth and do this for real. That’s respected.

We’ll see how this unfolds….

Are you surprised? I can’t say that I am. She was just too vocal about being bi and put it out there so much that you’re like, hmm? Have you seen her with a woman (outside of videos)? No. Have she been posed with a GF? No. Has she been seen in da girl clubs? No. Okay then.

She’s as fake as her hair and butt implants. Let’s see what happens now with her record sales. That’s if, she ever does get that album out.

this chick is a fake. i was a nicki fan before she became the character she is now. and i KNEW she wasn’t gay/bi in anyway. remember the video where the “stud” her was talking about how her and Remy together? she went on her twitter and was like sure i’m a dyke now. Then later apologized for using the word dyke not “knowing” it was offensive to lesbians. SMH

Dont make me laugh, Nicki trying to revamp her image? How about she start by releasing a damn album so we can get a sense of what the hell she really has to say because all this usher raymond’s freak and what not is tired fast as evidenced by the fact that she’s trying to change it up.

Fuck Nicki Minaj. I haven’t heard her say 1 damn intelligent thing yet. not that i’ve been listening but still.

I agree, Minaj is not gonna last. She doesn’t have any staying power. She’ll churn out a few mild radio hits, but she just doesn’t have “it”. You know like a Bey, Rihanna, or even Gaga. Minaj is more of a novelty right now than anything to be taken seriously. I can’t stand these women who love to tempt men by saying they’re Bi and then cringe and backpedal when people call them on it, it’s despicable!
