Chandra Wilson Goes From Grey’s Anatomy To Chicago

Chandra Wilson, known to most of you as Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy, has taken on a new role in the Broadway hit, Chicago. In a role previously held by Queen Latifah in the film version, Chandra plays prison warden Mama Morton. Chandra told the Advocate she plans to bring her own look, walk and demeanor to the role and has no qualms about playing an impliedly gay character.
When asked her thoughts on Prop 8, Chandra responded,
I find it so hard to believe that it passed…it seems to go against everything California stands for…and for about five minutes it makes you want to be a politician so you can do something about it. I have quite a few gay couples and gay couples with children in my life. It’s such an interesting issue for me because as a Christian you’re told to believe certain things, but I can’t get past my gut and my eyes, and I can’t get past my gay friends that have more love than some heterosexual couples that I know.
I’ve always liked that Chandra Wilson!
Chandra’s run in Chicago will be from June 8 to July 5 at the Ambassador Theatre.
